We’re here for everyone. Whether you’re taking time out, exploring your creativity, developing new work, or seeing exceptional South Asian dance and contemporary performance — this is your space.
We want you to feel at home. Tickets for our performances are £1 and we offer studio space and tailored support for artists at affordable rates, all made possible through our high-quality meeting room hire in a stimulating building.
At the heart of everything we do is a warm welcome, respect, and a commitment to authentic connection. Through our performance seasons, artist development, dance classes, schools and community programmes, we work towards deepening the understanding between people, and platform the sharing of our cultures and heritage to connect with each other, here and now. Our performance programming and artist support reflect three key themes:
- This is Bradford: placing our city and its people at the core.
- South Asia Now: which spotlights new British South Asian artists.
- British Diversity: exploring what it means to live in contemporary Britain.
Originally founded as the South Asian arts organisation Kala Sangam in 1993, we moved into Bradford’s former General Post Office in 2008. Now, following a multi-million pound redevelopment, we’re proud to return to our beautifully restored Grade II listed home and with our new name, Bradford Arts Centre.
Our newly transformed building includes a brand new state-of-the-art 170-seat theatre, five purpose-built rehearsal studios, four meeting rooms, a conference venue, office space for creative businesses, and we’re the home of BCB Radio. The new Sangam Lounge is an informal space to meet and relax, and honours the legacy of Kala Sangam. Newly commissioned artworks by Yorkshire-based artists Razwan Ul-Haq, Turbynes and Eve Wright, a final-year student from Bradford College and community groups U3A and Womenzone, installed throughout the centre, reflect the cultural heritage of both the organisation and the building.
Bradford Arts Centre is one of the city’s major capital redevelopment projects, proud to be part of the UK City of Culture 2025 and here to continue the creative investment and energy in our city.
As a registered charity (1055488), we rely on your support. By visiting us, seeing a performance, taking a class, booking a meeting or venue space or making a donation , you’re helping us bring people together and make so much more possible. Thank you.
