About Tanja Tolar
Dr Tanja Tolar works in higher education sector where she has an extensive experience in academic development, curriculum design, and widening participation. She currently works in Learning Development, collaborating across disciplines to embed academic skills within degree programmes and improve student success, particularly for diverse and underrepresented student communities. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with academic staff, senior leaders, and student services to develop inclusive educational strategies, enhance learning experiences, and support institutional change.
Prior to her current role, she lectured at SOAS, University of London, where she taught Islamic Art and Archaeology. Her academic interests focus on the medieval Mediterranean, with a particular passion for the cross-cultural exchange of artistic ideas, materials, and traditions. Outside of her professional life, she is an enthusiastic traveller who enjoys discovering new places, cultures, and perspectives, embracing each journey as an opportunity to learn and grow.
