Bradford Arts Centre Appoints Two New Trustees

Following a public call out, Bradford Arts Centre is delighted to announce the appointment of two new trustees to our board: Dr Tanja Tolar and Debbani Ghosh.

Dr Tanja Tolar works in the higher education sector, bringing extensive experience in academic development, curriculum design, and widening participation. She currently works in Learning Development, collaborating across disciplines to embed academic skills within degree programmes and improve student success, particularly for diverse and underrepresented student communities. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with academic staff, senior leaders, and student services to develop inclusive educational strategies, enhance learning experiences, and support institutional change.

Prior to her current role, she lectured at SOAS, University of London, teaching Islamic Art and Archaeology. Her academic interests focus on the medieval Mediterranean, with a particular passion for the cross-cultural exchange of artistic ideas, materials, and traditions. Outside of her professional life, she is an enthusiastic traveller who enjoys discovering new places, cultures, and perspectives, embracing each journey as an opportunity to learn and grow.

Debbani Ghosh brings nearly 30 years of dedicated leadership, community engagement, and operational excellence within the third sector to the Board of Trustees. She is widely recognised across West Yorkshire for her deep commitment to supporting marginalised, minoritised, and vulnerable communities.

Since 2006, Debbani has served as the CEO of the Association of Blind Asians (ABA) in Leeds, providing vital, culturally specific support to blind and visually impaired individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds, carers, and their families. She is actively involved with various community services in Leeds, ensuring that equality and inclusion remain at the heart of her work.

Additionally, Debbani is a passionate cultural advocate who has participated in numerous cultural activities across Leeds. Deeply dedicated to dance, the arts, culture, and heritage, she brings a lifelong commitment to making a tangible difference in the community.

Tanja and Debbani bring a wealth of skills and experience to the board. As we approach the end of our first full year since re-opening St Peter’s House, we look forward to having them work alongside us while we continue to grow.
